31 Days: The Oven Door

Here’s a project that I have wanted to take care of since the day we moved in last year, the oven door. It’s not the outside or the inside, it’s in between the glass and it is filthy.

I’m pretty sure the previous owners spilled something that ran down in there and the only way to clean it was take the oven door apart, which HELLO, I’m so not doing that (obvs).

I asked Jeff this morning when I was running out the door if he would mind taking care of it, I needed to take Zoe to guitar and run errands, which is code for I’m leaving and have at it.

By the time I got home, he had done a few loads of laundry, swept the floor, and the oven was spotless.

And then the clouds parted and the angels sang down from above and filled my kitchen with the holy spirit of cleanliness.

For 31 days, I’m tackling the Hot Mess. Β Read all about it here.

I did that today too! I want to marry Jeff, too bad he is taken.

Oh, but I also cleaned the inside… not just the door. Just sayin’

I cleaned the inside on Wednesday. I will clean the inside over the door any day, just sayin’.

My oven door is gross between the glass too, and when I tried to clean it I made it worse. Now I’m just holding out for a new one (hopefully not one from 1988.)

    how he did that?

    • Zakary

He took it apart and wiped everything with vinegar. Vinegar=magic.

Pretty sure that Jeff has the perfect idea of how you can thank him, and it doesn’t involve a blog post! ;)

That is amazing. I think the thing with husbands is to ask specific things. Like, if I just ask him to”help me clean up” he’ll shift stuff around for a few minutes into different piles and then disappear upstairs to the computer. But I think, as doubtful as it seems, if I asked him specifically to take apart the stove and clean it, he probably would.

Yeah, I think the more specific the better.

That is awesome. It doesn’t get much better than oven-lovin’ in my opinion. Now I must find my husband and ask him to do something…..

      Godspeed. :)

Oh my god you definitely have to be specific! I asked my husband to buy me a t shirt for a souvenir while he was out of town, thinking he would be able to handle it…the shirt he brought back is bigger than he is! And I am not bigger than he is. And I was under the impression he knew this, because HELLO!

Next time I’m going to have to give him my dimensions.

Seriously?! Jeff is awesome. The only laundry my husband does is his football playing sweaty stuff. Shouldn’t you call some magazine to cover your house by the end of this month? I really think you should :)

Seriously. We have awesome men! Yay for a clean oven and yay for guacamole!

It would take me 2 and a half regular lifetimes to get my husband to do that. That’s amazing. That door is friggin spotless!
