31 Days: The Frame

I have two of my grandmother’s paintings framed and hung on the wall on the way to our den.  I should say I DID.  Zoe managed to knock one off the wall and break the frame into a gazillion pieces.

The frameless painting has lived on the counter for months because going to the store is hard, y’all.

I decided to pick up a new frame from the Hob Lob for $7.

I popped the back out and put the glass and the backing aside.

A 5×7 canvas fits inside perfectly, boom custom frame job.  And by custom, I mean CHEAP.

I decided to take the hanging of the painting to the next level with my favorite invention of all time: the Command Strips. (The creepy cat is a nice touch.)

I mostly use the poster strips, you can hang just about anything with these bad boys.  And! I had a 40% off coupon, score.

I had to pop the picture hanger off that was on the frame, but there were already nails in the wall from the original hanging of the paintings.  I just hung the frames by the lip of the wood frame as back up and also used the stickers.  They aren’t going anywhere, ZOE.

For 31 days, I’m tackling the Hot Mess.  Read all about it here.

Wait, that is too weird. Because my ‘mess’ on Friday that I tackled was rehanging a picture in my boys’ room that they had knocked down and that had been sitting at the top of the stairs for… oh.. maybe 7 or 8 months.

It was a crayon drawing of a tractor that my Dad had done in first grade. I hung it up shortly after he died and then couldn’t ever just get my act together enough to rehang it after it fell.
It’s like we had a telepathic brain wave thing going on. I even used those command strips, but I think the longer ones.

I wonder if I get my hubby the command strips if he will hang the pictures that have been propped against my dining room wall for 2 YEARS!! He keeps saying something about needing to use a stud finder (the jokes, they write themselves) so I am not supposed to do it myself. Whatever. You have inspired me! :)

I’m sorry but I’m going to have to stop reading until November. So far I’ve tidied up a scary storage closest, a scarier girl’s room and last night tore through the fridge. The madness must stop.

These Hot Mess posts are my favorite thing ever. They are making me look around my own house like “whoa, I can just pick up a hammer/broom/squeegee and DO it!” Amazing.

These posts are brill. Loving it!
I finally got around to framing some prints from Zulily a few days ago. The prints – yeah, I bought them months ago.
I couldn’t find frames I liked, so I hit Hobby Lobby for spray paint and Goodwill for some ugly ass oak (cheap) frames. I feel so accomplished and crafty and I am totally in love with spray paint.

Just so you know, in my neck of the woods, we call it the Ho Lo. I think you should use it too. :)
