31 Days: The Curtains

I had every intention to finish spray painting one bathroom light today and then I woke up to this:

Untitled

Snow and 30 degrees outside means no go on the spray paint and that’s why I need a special spray paint room/area in the garage. Jeff isn’t willing to listen to any of that, so that’s why he gets to take another shower tonight by the light of the HK nightlight.

So, I tackled a project in my living room. My living room has looked like this (weird) for a year.

Untitled

The walls on either side of the fireplace were burnt orange when we moved in and I painted them. And that’s where I ran out of steam.

I was so inspired panicked to get a project done today, I hung my grandmother’s painting that I had framed and has been leaning up against the wall for oh, MONTHS AND MONTHS. It was very challenging, you know how hard it can be to find a nail and a hammer.

Untitled

Since I do not have a special spray paint room (rage), I decided to hang curtains. I picked up a package of Vivans from IKEA the last time we were there because I can’t commit to anything more fancy or colorful than this.

So, I hung the curtains. Β And Troy was so exhausted from watching me work, he decided to take a nap as soon as I moved everything back into place.

Untitled

I still need to hang more photos/art/anything and I would like a side table next to the couch, but it’s a start.

Untitled

Also, let’s all just pretend that the curtains are hemmed and that I didn’t just shove them under the couch.

For 31 days, I’m tackling the Hot Mess. Β Read all about it here.

You should move to Canada. For reals. It was 23 degrees C here today and sunny.

Um, except here where I am in Canada… -9 and snowing. :(

    I feel your pain.

It snowed here today, too. Building snowmen before carving pumpkins; it’s just not right.

No spray painting in the snow, huh? Maybe you could have gone to your new doorless closet to get appropriate cold weather gear! ;) No need to hem the curtains, that is what under the couch is really for anyway! ;)

I’m jealous of your snow. It was 80 degrees in Pittsburgh today. Global warming?

Is that the FLOR rug? You picked one and didn’t tell us?! Sad face.

Ah, I ordered those last year for our living room. Our front room is still rugless.

The snow looks beautiful, but that may be because I have NEVER seen snow in my life. Can I visit? Please?

Was watching the weather last night and saw the lovely blue purple over the center of Colorado and thought to myself, ‘yep, Zackary’s got snow, ain’t she gonna be thrilled!” yes, even my interior thoughts are sarcastic! :D

still, you gotta admit, it’s lovely!

I hung curtains immediately after my first winter in my house…gotta have something to close to attempt to keep out the drafts from my p.o.s. single-pane 1960 era windows!!! Of course the curtains I hung were some my mom dug up that I remember hanging in the front room when I was maybe 6? What can I say, i’m cheap and everything from the 60′s & 70′s is back in style now right! :D

That’s just rude, Colorado. I’m so impressed with your progress–I would have quit on Day 2.
