31 Days: The Broom

As I pointed out to you in this post, I needed to buy a new broom. It’s a good broom, it’s just been used mostly in the kitchen and I don’t like to sweep up crackers/chicken bits/god knows what and then sweep up the rest of my house, you know, that isn’t the kitchen.

I took myself on down to Bed Bath & Beyond and picked up a new broom.

I do enjoy my new broom’s color scheme, but I love that it was $10.31 and after my $5 off coupon.  Try not to be too distracted by the fact that my new broom came with his own comb (?).

And look, he matches his brother that already lives here, the dust mop.

I decided to test him out on our stairs, I let them get extra dirty for this occasion, I don’t want you to think that we live like this.  I mean, that pine needle definitely has not been on the step for a week.

I swept the stairs with the new broom that is not allowed to touch chicken bits.  I then sprayed them with some vinegar and wiped them up with the dust mop.

Clean stairs.  Now if you will excuse me, I need to go comb my new broom.

For 31 days, I’m tackling the Hot Mess.  Read all about it here.

Oooh, high society! Separated brooms. I have never conceived of such a thing. Once my mom came to visit and used my dishes sponge to wipe up a spill from under the garbage can….. it boggled my mind.

Never heard of a broom comb before, sounds fancy ;) If you’re anything like me, you’re gonna have all kinds of excuses to sweep places for a week or so and then forget it exists.

I’m loving this organize the hot mess series. It inspires me. One day I, too, will organize and clean the whole damn house. Not today, but one day.
(It’s sort of like watching the Biggest Loser while eating ice cream- thinking “I need to lose some weight. But not quite yet.”

I’m ashamed to say that I’ve never thought of having two separate brooms. =\ Mother of the Year? Not even.

At first I scoffed at the idea if a broom comb, then I remembered how annoyed and grossed out I was the last time I cleaned mine out by hand. Might have to give it a try.

You are like Martha Stewart and Dr. Oz all rolled into one. A 2nd broom? I mean, yeah, once you explain it makes perfect sense. P.S. I probably shouldn’t ask, but what exactly are you doing with chicken that it winds up on your floor?? ;)
