31 Days: The Bathroom Lights Part 2 And Bonus! A Side Table

When we last left off, the bathroom lights looked like this. I mean, they are still ugly, but at least they are clean and ready to paint.

Untitled

I rounded up all the screws that also had a patina and needed some paint.  I punched them into a piece of styrofoam to hold them in place.

Untitled

And I used an empty cardboard box as a paint stand for the light.

Untitled

I already had a can of Rust-oleum primer, so I applied two thin coats.

Untitled

I then noticed that the glossy white spray paint I bought at De Hippo is a “Paint & Primer In One”, so basically I primed the hell out of these lights.

Untitled

The screws look a lot less patina-y.

Untitled

And I’m thinking the lights look 100 times better, I mean, at least they don’t look they would give you tetanus.  I’m letting them dry for one more day and hopefully we can hang them back up tomorrow.  This is unfortunate for Jeff because he took a shower in our bathroom last night in the dark accompanied by a Hello Kitty nightlight and a lit candle.

Untitled

After painting, I went and picked up a side table I found on Craigslist for my rugless front room for $15.

I’m not going to lie, the projects are starting to kill me run together. Obviously.

For 31 days, I’m tackling the Hot Mess.  Read all about it here.

Your styrofoam screw idea is amazing.

I hope you and Jeff had sexy time, because nothing induces sexy time more than a flashlight and candle. Especially with Hello Kitty on it.

Your chair looks fantastic and ready for a night on the town.

Seems to me that you are making the most of your 31 days. But I feel like you should do another series called–31 Days: The Aftermath

I love the white, it looks so Ikea-ish. Without having to drive to Ikea. Win win!

The suspense is killing me! I’m dying to see how the lights turn out…. Nice table. But it’s the chair that got me. Love the color!

Also, I still want to know more about how you painted that chair fabric!! It looks so good. Sorry to ask, but does it look that awesome up close?

You are so dang awesome (and so is Hello Kitty.) Just remember, that which does not kill you will make your house look awesome. Or something like that.

AWESOME – I laughed all the way to the bathroom to check out my ugly light fixture. Wish I had the ‘brass ones’ to be so creative – new house and all – just don’t have those artsy ‘DNA’ genes. Kudos to you and your new bathroom!

BTW – did you do that chair? it is beautiful! if so, how did you do it? Anybody have any ideas on reinventing a ‘oriental inspired’ armoire or an ‘italian inspired’ dining room set. The seller left these (and although I can really use the furniture) I had the look :)
