Summer’s Over. So I Decorated My Front Porch.

I hope you had a nice Labor Day weekend. Ours was weird, it mostly rained and Zoe got some sort of weird virus that made her throat hurt and she ran a fever. She also had high blood sugars and that meant I received the privilege of waking up every few hours to check her glucose. It’s like having a newborn, except minus the nursing and diapers and more with needles and meters.

She doesn’t even wake up anymore during the nighttime checks. If someone drew blood from my finger while I was asleep, I would probably jack them up, believe that. Zoe’s hardcore. And she is back to normal and went to school this morning.

I managed to finally finish my front porch project that I started, uh, like at the beginning of the summer, you know, just in time for it to snow in like two weeks (I can’t even).

A few months back, I purchased this bench off of Craigslist for $40.

I hawked Craigslist for three months trying to find an outdoor bench for our front porch.  Hawking CList is my favorite thing and with my patient hawking skills, I scored bigtime, you guys.  This bench retails for almost $500.  He was in almost perfect condition, just a few minor dings here and there.  And! He came with a friend, a pretty messed up side table friend.

The side table was mostly covered with remnants of someone’s spray painting project, which is why the previous owners gave him to me, they were going to put it out for the trash pickup “if I didn’t want it”.

Since the bench and the table are “Durable cast aluminum with synthetic versa slats“, I decided this was nothing that a a light sanding and couple of $4 cans of spray paint couldn’t fix.

I picked up Krylon Fusion, it’s made for plastic and metal.  Troy acted as quality control and made sure I followed the directions.

A couple of light coats of paint later and the bench was good to go.  Boom, serious front porch business here, my friends.

Bench + side table: $40
Two cans of spray paint: $8
Two outdoor pillows on mega clearance at Kohl’s: $11
Grocery store flowers: $7

Front porch makeover: $66
