My First Vlog. You’re Welcome.

posted by on 01/26/2012 | 30 comments (leave one of your own)

I have a weak stomach, true story. My freshman year of college, while in the cafeteria, I touched applesauce that someone had smeared on a table and I threw up in my own lap. Jim AKA Busy Dad posted a video that he and Shannon AKA Mr. Lady shot in China of Jim sampling some off the wall cuisine. And by off the wall, I mean people that live in China won’t even eat it.  He wanted to see my reaction, I refused to watch, and well, the rest is this vlog.

No worries, (SPOILER ALERT) I only throw up the tiniest bit of coffee in my mouth.

Enjoy.

I have not had this much fun watching a video in my entire life. Let’s just leave it at that. I am wheezing.

I just watched Jim’s video last night… Now I can’t decide which one is funnier! Don’t mean to laugh at your misery, but it’s a good thing you only a little coffee before you watched this, you brave girl!

My favorite part is when you get hella close to the camera and say, “what is that… a grasshopper?” with this look of absolute disdain on your face. I am dying over here.

Girl, you have an Asian mother in law and you are torturing yourself so that you can learn how to make fried rice?!

I think you secretly *like* to throw up coffee in your mouth.

My MIL has given up on my rice skills. GIVEN UP.

all I had to hear was the word grub and I was thinking ACKKK! Now I have to go watch this video. Yes, I’m glutton for punishment.

I didn’t watch Jim’s video. I didn’t have to based on your video. Thank GOD I didn’t watch his video. Also. His fried rice is pretty f’n amazing. For Serious. And I’m pretty sure the recipe will start off with that monster fire wok thing he owns that hooks up to a monster propane tank, too. Just FYI.

I don’t know that I can watch Jim’s video, but yours was pretty funny. And your eyes looked super asian and any fried rice recipe will be good.

Oh man…those were difficult to watch…minus the hurled in your mouth coffee…I think my facial reactions were REALLY close to mirroring yours. You should Vlog more often! 🙂

I love this! I watched his video first and then it was hilarious to see you shaking your head and saying no over and over. Too funny.

I don’t know which is more hilarious BusyDad eating a cicada grub or you watching! 😀

but, the key to the bug eating seems to be; everything tastes better covered in chili powder, deep-fried & served with beer, lots-n-lots of beer….

that better be some DAMN GOOD FRIED RICE!

  • Deb

I totally did not watch Jim’s video either. Just reading “a video of himself sampling a bug platter” was enough to make me close the window before it could accidentally start.

    Gag-o-Rama.

I am interested, however, in fried rice…

    but not that much.

thanks for filming hahah – I grew up with him and my reaction was just the same as yours! I thought I was watching myself. However, I had just eaten lunch when I saw this and he didn’t warn me!! It almost didn’t stay down.

  • Allison

You kill me. I’m pretty sure I made the same faces when I watched Jim’s video.
Don’t feel bad. I throw up at the drop of a hat. I didn’t always have a weak stomach, but it’s gotten pretty bad. We have a dog at our office and he walked up to me the other day and threw up RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY FEET. Worst image and smell every. Like every bad baby diaper you ever changed combined and times 10000. I had to go outside and dry heave in the bushes for awhile. No shame.

Despite your best efforts, the “v” in vlog does not stand for vomit.

    Good work, grasshopper.

Here’s a totally fascinating article on disgust. It is one of the 6 basic emotions, yet the only one that is learned, usually from our awesome parents- right around the time of potty training. After that, it’s just one long series of hang-ups, one after the other. 😉 http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970204661604577186843056231170.html The article is also about food, so I thought that it was apropos.

this totally reminded me of watching reactions to 2 girls one cup on youtube. DO NOT EVER WATCH THAT VIDEO BTW.

Ok I knew you were going to yak when you brushed your hair away from your forehead. Barf does not a good styling product make. And by “watch” did Jim mean that you had to watch it with your actual eyeballs? Back here in RI, I was trying to coach you through the experience (after the fact, of course)…you shoulda heard me: “Close. Your. Eyes!” Next time you have to watch something gross, you might want to do that. Unless you need to actually see it.

PS you are especially talented because you can laugh right before you throw up. I usually cry.
