I have debated commenting on this post because I’m not sure if we’re helping our squirrels or hurting them, but I just have to share. And you’ll be jealous…
We have the MOST GIGANTIC squirrels in our backyard. Ever. Like HUGE. (they’re so cute!)
The reason for this is simply that Scarlett loves squirrels, so she feeds them her leftovers everyday. Bananas, peanut butter toast, berries, grilled cheese…you name it, she’s fed it to them. I allow this because then the squirrels are always around. They’re less timid, too! (That’s why I think it might be a bad thing. Those squirrels need to protect themselves! Aaaaand maybe be more self-sufficient in their scavengering for meals!)
Scarlett gets so much happiness watching the squirrels from our windows…it makes up for my feelings of guilt!!!
