Momma Said Lock You Out
I step out onto my back porch, quietly closing the door behind me. Zoe is off to school and Troy is catching up with Elmo, Big Bird and the young guy on Sesame Street that looks just like Chris Brown and this is decidedly my favorite time of day. Every one is fed, dressed and accounted for and I can just enjoy my coffee. I am sneaking off with my camera in hand, hoping to grab a few shots of the light coming through the tall tops of the pine trees in the backyard.
I stand behind my house, enjoying the stillness of it all. There is some snow on the ground, most of it will hopefully melt away with the sunshine. I think of how I’m ready for spring and how much the children love being outside, perhaps we will figure out how to hang a tire swing that Zoe wants.
I feel someone watching me, so I turn towards the house.
My solitude never lasts long.
Please don’t bite the toddler. And please don’t kick the dog.
OK, that’s good, run along. You two are ruining my moment. Plus I need to photograph trees.
Or you could just lock me out.
It took me TWENTY minutes to convince Troy to unlock the door. And my coffee was inside. Peace and quiet, my ass.

You seriously have the cutest puppy EVER. I love the curly hair!
And it is really good to know that I am not the only person who has been locked out of the house by the kids…
MODG
why did Troy lock you out? Were you paying attention to Zoe last night?
Krëg
Ha!
Looks like you weren't the only one who wanted some solitude.
Jen
Too funny! At least he let you back in!
Heather D
That first picture of your dog? Yeah, kind of scaring me. You can tell evil is a-brewing…
HoustonGurly
Admit it. You were on the lookout for the cat/rabbit/squirrel/fox/lynx/chupacabra/jackalope! LOL
Colleen
Hysterical! Still laughing!
Something Happened Somewhere Turning
Lois locked herself out of the car once in the middle of Winter one year and she tried to convince the girls (who were locked in the car) to unbuckle their seat belts and let her in. But, because they knew they were suppose to be buckled in, neither of them would budge and they started crying. It took her about a half hour to convince Jeni to open up the door. Good times.

can i come be your neighbor? i love your life. i love your take on life!
Boy Crazy
I'm with Heather D. Your dog definitely looks like he's up to something.
And woman, I feel your pain. Just *thinking* about dealing with a lock out with NO COFFEE stresses me out.
Super cute kid, by the way.

Oh sure I believe you went out to "photograph trees" – isn't that code for "search for Napoleon"?
The Lil Bee
BAAAHHH!! OMG so funny, though I'm sure it was not at the moment. It's kind of like when Devon finally goes to sleep, and I sit down with my coffee and Real Housewives, and as soon as I hit play on the DVR, Devon cries. And then when I go over to check on her, she laughs in my face like, "Gotcha! You gullible a'hole!"

I think Zoe has turned him. Either that or the ghost told him to do it.
Ed
That is all kinds of awesome.
Kelly @ Dare to be Domestic
I won't like, this made me chuckle. Mostly because if I was a mom, this would be my luck. As always cute babies and cute animals!!! You never disappoint ZDub, I hope you eventually got your pictures of the trees.
Salt
Oh jeez. And I just love the look on his face while he's doing it too. They are adorable though! (Your son and your puppy.)
Elaine A.
I hope you weren't cold.
*snicker*
Did you forgive him since he's so cute?
Amy Whitley
Been there, on that side of the sliding door. More than once. This was fun to read! (Found you via You Capture!)
Maggie May
that first picture of the dog is priceless! glad you got back in at all
Bunch of Barrons
Too funny. I haven't been locked outside yet, but my son did lock me out of the bathroom one day. Of all the places to be locked out of…:/
sarah
Troy told me you totally deserved it.
Juliana
Oh boys will be boys at least it was on a sunny day! Sunday was freaking cold! I just found you through MODG. I am the one who had the baby toliet with the buttpaste and the martini glass on her blog. I am from 528O as well, I grew up in Boulder so I had to stop by and say HELLO!
