If You Don’t Know Your Facts

Zoe missed school this week due to the virus we all picked up from taking Troy to the emergency room (love you germs, mean it.) While I was running errands yesterday, I stopped by the school and picked up her missed assignments so she could catch up on some things. We worked on a few until I had to go to work at the restaurant. I instructed her to finish up as much as she could (there was a ton) and to leave it out and I would check it when I got back.

After a long shift, I finally make it home. While going through the mail, I notice Zoe’s backpack on the dining room table and her homework in a neat stack next to it.

Her writing journal was open to this entry and I think she really gets her point across.

Math

ZDub Fun Fact: I worked at the golden arches for three months when I was a freshman in college and it was some bullshit. You have to wash your hands with “McHandsoap” and you always salt the french fries in the letter ‘M’. I was on drive thru drink hand out for five weeks until I finally got promoted to the front counter where I was allowed to take orders and handle money. This was short lived as I told very rude lady, who was holding up my line trying to make special modifications to her 39 cent Big Mac, that “This isn’t Burger King, you can’t have it your way”. I got demoted back to drive thru and then “I McQuit”, my exact words.

ZDub Fun Fact: I have two sisters, one is a lawyer, one is a doctor (for animals).

ZDub Fun Fact: I SUCK AT MATH and while I do have a job where I make substantially more than I ever did at Mickey D’s, it involves an apron, name tag and a wine opener.

If Zoe signs off on it, I’m going to feature some of her journal entries. I think we would all benefit from it and I do believe Zoe is the best guidance counselor I have ever had.

I mean basically Zoe is a genius. No question. If she is taking clients on an hourly basis, my schedule is flexible.

ps I have to tell you, you are like in my top 2 blogs right now. I bruised my refresh button hoping you'd post.

Zoe is one very smart little gal! And I also worked at the golden arches while in high school – what a joke, non?! My first realization that people can be total a#*holes!

That's fantastic!!! Can't wait to read more …

The doctors and lawyers I know are all terrible at math. But then again, they are also pretty awful line cooks.

They make kids keep writing journals in primary school nowadays? That's pretty cool. I wish someone had forced that upon me as a youngster.

I won't mention what was forced upon me instead.

lol, you have one smart daughter!

You know, I had heard about salting Mcy D's fries in an 'M' but never believed it until my husband (who had worked there as a teen) confirmed it. That's so weird!

I need to show this to my Zoe–as she has aspirations of becoming a doctor–but no desire to learn her math facts!

hahahaha she is so funny. i just love everything she says!

I will NOT share Jill's. They make me look like a bad parent, and she tells all my secrets.

I might just have to make a copy of this and stick it on my fridge.

I hope that bitch MODG was implying I was also in her #2 or I will cut her.

Is Zoe good at math? Because I suck at it. And I just want her to know that as long as she can bullshit, she will not have to work at McDonald's. I can't promise she will be a doctor, but it will definitely get you to lawyer status.

I knew Sarah would chime in on that one.

I love the kids journals! Except when they ask questions like 'what is your mom's favorite drink?' and the other kids say 'iced tea' and mine says 'J.Lohr Chardonnay, chilled"

OMG Please please please do!! I get such a kick out of that girl. And CLEARLY the apple does not fall far from the tree. McQuit?! I f'ing love you two!!

Oh. My. Gosh. Zoe is my new hero. Seriously a doll!

Thanks so much for your words of encouragement about my Olympic bid. Believe me, I need all the help I can get!

That's pretty much the threat around here…

"If you (to my teenage daughter) don't find yourself a job by the end of the month, I'm sending your resume to McDonalds"

"Oh My God!! You will not! I'll die first! Everyone who works at McDonalds is a loser!"

"Only… if those losers have jobs, what does that make you? Happy hunting!"
