Rigby Alfred Poodlesworth
I adopted Rigby in 1998 when he was 3. I went to the animal shelter in OKC just on a whim. I spotted the happiest white poodle and he obviously didn’t belong there. He had green bows in his hair and his nails were painted green in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. I paid $32 for him and we were on our way. I didn’t mean to adopt a dog that day, but I’m glad I did.
Four states, two husbands, two kids, numerous houses, few cars, the beach (his favorite, loved chasing the seagulls), the mountains. He loved it all. The older he got, he slept the days away and recently, he lost control of his bladder and couldn’t eat.
We put him down this morning. And I feel just awful.

Oh NO! I am SOOOO sorry, Z. My heart goes out to you and your fam… losing a beloved pet is just the pits.
You’ll be missed, Little Rigby.
You guys are all in my prayers.
Jennifer
Oh no! I’m so sorry for you! I know how it is; we had to put down our beloved beagle Oscar two years ago this month and I still miss him even though we have Piper now. What a bummer.

Piss.
I’m sorry that you had to do that thing that I can’t mention (I’m currently in denial about Ike’s increased age and similar predicament). That must have been a heart breaker. I had to sit with my ex-mother-in-law in the vet’s office when it was her Lab’s time. I cried like a kindergartner. I guess us humans wouldn’t feel such anguish if we didn’t have such a wonderful capacity to love.
I hope that your family is celebrating all the good memories of Rigby.

I’m sorry that sometimes life can be unkyin.

So, so sorry for your loss.
When our cats have been sick (or have disappeared for a day or two), the sick grief in my stomach and the tears I cry over them – cats! – make me terrified to have children.
I know it sucks. I hope he and your family are at peace.

so sorry for your loss

Zak, I am so so sorry for you & the family. Rigby sounds like a gem — shelter dogs know they've been chosen to be loved.
I put my 12 year old Great Dane Callie down in November, and it's still hard to think about. Who knew you could cry that hard over something you didn't give birth to?!
Hugs are sent your way!
Shelly...
I’m sorry about Rigby. He looked like a sweet dog.
Our dog died last month from a brain tumor and we are still mourning his loss. It sucks to lose pets!!

Wow, that just sucks!
How are the kids taking it?

So sorry for your loss. Big hug your way.

so sorry
i was just talking to my mom and she is tearfully trying to decide if she should put her dog down (a white poodle, too, incidentally) – he is just so old and his health is failing so badly…but we will miss that little guy so much!

that sucks. losing a pet is the hardest part of owning one. it is inevitable, but never easy. it looks like he had a long and happy life with your family. so sorry!
SOMETHING HAPPENED SOMEWHERE TURNING
Zak,
My deepest sympathy.
It is always so difficult to lose a beloved family member. We here at our homestead are all too familiar with this. Know that you are surrounded by friends.

Ohhhhhh, Mr. Poodlesworth!
SO, so sorry, Zak.

Well that sucks a whole lot. I am very sorry. You guys are in my thoughts. I would say prayers, but I don’t pray a lot. So I will just be thinking about you, and hoping you are doing okay. I know how hard it is, as my parents just had to do the same with my childhood dog a few weeks ago. Sad times.

Zak-
So sorry for your loss.
I am sure he is chasing Seagulls in heaven right now.
Lo
Zak, I’m sorry, friend. But lucky dog, to have been so loved.
